Goal 1 | proceed with education at Camosun college. |
Goals and Progress Towards Goals | List at least 3 goals you have been working on. Describe how you worked towards those goals and their progress towards achieving them. |
Goal 2 | work towards better standard of living with her conditions |
Progress Towards Goal 1 | Jasmine is steadfastly continuing with her education to become an accredited support worker, but is having difficulty reconciling this goal with her medical struggles. She wants to become a support worker so she can support those who have struggled with the same things she has but unfortunately she struggles being in close proximity to many people, which is classrooms and a practicum in a nutshell. so she is questioning whether that life choice is a smart one for her struggles. Even so, she is resolute, and is going to finish it nonetheless. I don't have much of a role in this other than listen to her vent her anxieties and provide a compassionate ear. |
Progress Towards Goal 2 | Jasmine has many health issues caused primarily by the spontaneous growth of tumours in her nervous system, which can be very dangerous, and come with equally as dangerous treatments, and have unpleasant side effects. In short, Jasmine was dealt a rough hand, and it's very hard on her to try to proceed with her life while battling these ailments. Despite her anxiety she is a strong advocate for herself and is strong-willed but these issues try hard to bring her down. Therefore the battle to recovery is slow and the paths are unclear, as are the destinations. I do what I can to help her carve through the jungle that is the medical system, but it's a slow process. |
Goal 3 | maintain mental health despite setbacks |
Progress Towards Goal 3 | Lately Jasmine has wanted to find a support group for people who also have brain tumours. I gave her a couple of links to support groups offered through braintumour.ca which seems like a great place! Unfortunately they rejected her because he brain tumour is not specifically related to cancer. I think this is inappropriate to turn someone away because the brain tumour they're suffering from is not of the right classification. Very upsetting, and I havn't been able to find anywhere else that will give her that feeling of camaraderie. Still the search is on, because Jasmine feels isolated and alone with her struggles and needs some community support from people who have lived experience with her issues. |
Summary of Service Reporting Period | |
Highlights | Overall Jasmine is a strong and patient person who is very kind. She doesn't have many friends but the ones she does have she nurtures. I'm impressed at her resilience despite how much stuff she has piled on top of her constantly |
