Danica J.

Aug. 1st - Took a long walk on trails through Sooke.
Aug. 8th - Went to mini-golf, played 2 games, D.J. won one, I won the other. Walked around Westshore Mall & had dinner @ Opa.

Aug. 12th - Walked Whiffen Spit & talked about family. D’s Mom was talking about her moving to Quebec & try work there. We went to the library to check out the free books & magazines. Danica loves reading & has applied 3 times to work there. I admire her persistence & going for what she really wants to do for work.

Aug. 15th -  Went for another long walk then the SFRS Thrift Store. Danica checked in w/the manager re. receiving her resume & fitting her in. She can speak for herself & shows confidence when talking to the manager. I don’t need to be by her side.

Aug. 20th - Another long walk.

Aug. 22nd - We went to the library to check out free books, the new puzzle out for everyone to work on in passing & played some cards. Danica is determined to beat me at Crazy 8 count down. She proves to be a fast learner & competitive.

Aug. 27th - Danica & I went to the movies for her birthday. We watched Inside Out 2. I haven’t seen the first one but, heard it was very good. Of course I cried! I could see Danica react to some emotional parts (putting her hands up & out, which she does quite often when excited). We talked about the character “anxiety” on the way home. I asked if any of “Anxiety’s” behaviours felt familiar to her. E.g. have to do everything right, what will people think etc.  D. said “yes, sometimes it feels like a lot of pressure”.

Aug. 29th - Got another good walk through the trails in.

Seek less stressful & more fulfilling employment.

Continue on w/a healthy lifestyle.

Danica has a strong personality & knows what she likes & doesn’t like. Her & her Dad  are going to fitness classes twice a week, we walk every time we get together & she is making good healthy meal choices for herself.

She has expressed frustration w/2 of her friends that seem to take more than they give in the relationship. (Danica has them over for dinner but, it isn’t reciprocated). I ask her what keeps drawing her to them. She says she doesn’t have to many other friends close by.  We have talked about checking the craft group out on Wednesdays at the Legion but, have yet to follow through. They are like minded, creative people that may become good friends for Danica.

It didn’t sound like Danica wanted to move out of province.  Now her family are working on making her space more suitable for her. (Furniture, plants & her own patio space outside & her grandmother’s roll top desk for her to use.
